Biography
I build AI tools that teach critical thinking. At Sacramento State, I integrate AI directly into my Communication Studies courses through a suite of public tools I designed: a Critical Thinking Analyzer, a Generalizations Analyzer, and a Targeted Persuasion simulator where students experience psychographic profiling firsthand — learning to recognize manipulation by building it.
My weekly intelligence platform, AI News Social (ainews.social), evaluates 8,000+ AI-related articles per week and synthesizes them into reports across four domains: AI in Higher Education, AI and Social Justice, AI Literacy, and AI Tools. Faculty can access findings through a public ChatGPT that delivers role-specific briefings with cited sources in English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese.
This work builds on 25 years of research connecting media literacy, behavioral analysis, and digital communication. At Sacramento State I created and coordinated the Digital Communication and Information Minor (six courses, unanimously approved by faculty) and pioneered the university's first Quality Matters-certified online course. I directed four editions of the Faculty Learning Community on AI Literacy (2023-2025) and previously served the CSU Chancellor's Office as Developer of ICT Literacy Initiatives.
My creative practice spans award-winning VR films (Uku Pacha, Pitched Together), electronic literature (Big Data, selected for the Electronic Literature Collection Vol. 4), and the hypermedia narrative A Space of Time, which won 1st Prize at the Moscow International Film Festival and is referenced in George Landow's Hypertext 3.0 (Johns Hopkins).
I publish in English and Spanish. Four books, 24+ peer-reviewed publications, 12+ countries
