Akash Nigam, born on March 1, 1992, in Los Altos, California, is an American entrepreneur and investor. He attended the University of Michigan, where he studied computer science and economics from 2010 to 2014. Nigam co-founded Blend, a social media platform, with Evan Rosenbaum, and later pivoted to form Genies in 2017. His parents gave him an ultimatum: raise $3 million or stay in school. He chose to drop out and raised the money, leading to the success of Genies, which has become a leader in personalized, 3D avatars for digital platforms. Nigam has been recognized in Forbes 30 under 30 in 2019 and continues to be a prominent figure in the tech and digital innovation space.
